Submitted by: Kent Robarge 29 September 2003 ************************************************************************ Kneer, Caroline (Setterle/Zetterle) Obituary of Caroline (Setterle) Kneer in Eau Claire Leader (July 19, 1940) Mrs. Caroline Kneer, 1110 Summit street, a resident of Eau Claire for more than fifty years, died suddenly Thursday of a heart attack. She had been in good health and her death was unexpected. She would have been 92 years old on Sept. 27, having been born on that day in 1848 in Wurtemburg, Germany. The funeral will be held Saturday morning at 7:30 from the Eau Claire funeral home and at 8 o'clock from the Sacred Heart church, the Rev. F.X. Orthen officiating. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart cemetery. Friends may call at the Eau Claire Funeral home this afternoon and evening. Rosary at 7:30 this evening. Her maiden name was Caroline Settele and she came to America in 1887 and came direct to Eau Claire where she had since lived. She had been married to John Kneer in 1872 in Germany. He died here some years ago. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mary Wagner, Mrs. Peter Schneider and Mrs. John Deinhammer, all of this city; four sons, Frank and John of Eau Claire, Ernest of St. Paul, and Irvin of Whiting, Ind.; a brother in Germany, 29 grand children, and 17 great grand children.
