This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Nance Sampson 7 February 1999 ==================================================================== Isadore LENNIE, Retired Police Captain, Dies Suddenly at Home Isadore LENNIE, 71, retired captain of the Eau Claire police department, died of a heart attack at his home, 1561 Bellevue avenue, at 9:45 a.m. today (21 March 1942). Captain LENNIE, who had been in his usual good health and spirits, was stricken suddenly and succumbed before medical assistance could be summoned. He was worn in Hixton, Wis., Dec. 6, 1870, and came to Eau Claire when a young man where he was employed for several years in the lumbering industry. He became a member of the police department in 1907. In 1921, he was promoted to detective and, a short time later to the grade of captain. Captain LENNIE retired from active service July 1, 1940, when he was honored at a dinner given by his fellow officers and city officials when a gold police badge was presented. Since retirement the veteran policeman led an active life spending considerable time during spring, summer and fall months at his cottage. Captain LENNIE is survived by his widow, who was present at the time of his death, two sons, Leo, of Loleta, Calif., and LeRoy, Eau Claire, and one daughter, Mrs. John E. PEARSON, Eau Claire. The funeral will be held Wednesday with services at the home at 8 a.m. and at Sacred Heart church at 8:15 a.m. The Rev. Fr. F. X. Orthen will officiate and interment will be at Sacred Heart cemetery. Friends may call at Fleming's Monday afternoon and evening and at the family residence after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Rosary will be observed at 9 p.m. Tuesday. Pall bearers, members of the police force, will be Captain Walter Schwenk, Sergeants Edward Klingbeil, Emil Johnson and Arthur Mueller and Patrolmen Warren Lowry and G. Robillard.
