Submitted by: Kent Robarge 29 September 2003 ************************************************************************ Leinenkugel, Jacob Mathias Obituary of Jacob Leinenkugel in Thursday, Feb 14, 1935 Eau Claire Leader (Eau Claire, Eau Claire County, WI) Jacob Leinenkugel Rites Funeral services for the late Jacob Leinenkugel will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles church and will be with military rites. The Rev. J.L. Kaiser will officiate and interment will be made in Calvary cemetery. The body is expected to arrive Friday and friends may call after 7 p.m. Friday at the home of his mother, Mrs. Matt Leinenkugel, 821 Bridge street. The death of Jacob M. Leinenkugel, aged 42, a native of Chippewa Falls, took place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Tucson, Ariz., after a lingering illness of a year or more. Mr. Leinenkugel was born in this city Dec. 5, 1893, the son of the late Matthew and Mrs. Leinenkugel. He attended St. Charles school, and the Chippewa Falls high school, from which he graduated in 1913. He then entered St. Thomas college at St. Paul and from there went to the University of Wisconsin where he spent two years in the law school. He attended Notre Dame university at South Bend, Ind., and was admitted to the state bar of Indiana. He then took a post-graduate course in law at Yale university. When the World war broke out he enlisted but was not accepted owing to disability. He went to Washington, D.C., and was employed in the legal department of the Aircraft Production bureau. While there he was married to Ethel Schaefer of that city, who with two sons, William and James, survives him. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Matt Leinenkugel, who was at his bedside at the time of death, one sister, Mrs. Josephine Black, and a brother, Carl, both of Chippewa Falls. The latter is now in Madison. Besides other offices held by Mr. Leinenkugel he was at one time commander of the American Legion post here, served as United States attorney in Boston, and for the last few years was in the internal revenue service.
