Living in a country that embraced the reformation of Luther, he was confirmed in the Lutheran church with which church he was affiliated throughout his long life. In 1849 he was united in marriage to Henrietta Kloepfel. To this union 10 children were born, seven of whom died in early infancy and one at the age of twenty-one. In 1869 Mr. Ronneberger left his native land to seek his fortune in America, locating in this vicinity. The steep hills and dense forests of Albany held no terror for his sturdy arms and heart and by dint of hard labor and energy he helped convert the unsettled wilds into one of the most fruitful farming districts of Wisconsin. It is due such fearless and sturdy pioneers as he that the hidden wealth of America's western soil was discovered. The primitive conditions then existing and the labor required to make a livelihood by no means undermined his health and constitution, for he reached the advanced age of of almost 96 years-to be exact 95 years, 10 months and 6 days. In April 1915, his aged helpmate departed before him and on the eleventh of this month he followed her, peacefully falling asleep at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bernhardt Tanz, where he had made his home for the last twenty-eight years. Though confined to his bed continually for the last three years on the account of old age, he bore his lot with patience and fortitude, waiting and hoping for the final deliverance. Many things might be said to his credit, but the outstanding feature of his whole life was his unwavering faith and trust in his Redeemer, Jesus Christ. It was this faith that made him express the sentiments of the aged Simon: 'Lord, now lettest Thou Thy servant depart in peace according to Thy word; for my eyes have seen the salvation Thou has prepared.' Mr. Ronneberger leaves to mourn his demise two daughters, fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on December 13 and interment made in E. Pepin cemetery, Rev. Wedel officiating." Father: Unknown Mother: Unknown Date of Birth: Feb 5, 1821 (Germany) Date of Death: Dec 11, 1917 (Eau Claire) © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm
