The real cause of death is said to have been old age although bloody diarrhea troubled him greatly towards the last, and hastened the end. He was up and around, however but a short time before. The body was brought to this city, on Saturday noon train. A large number of relatives, neighbors and old friends, from Troubled Waters settlement and elsewhere, met the body at the depot, and escorted it to its last resting place. Rev. W. W. Hurd officiated at the funeral. The deceased left one son Wm. Romain Jr. of Troubled Waters, two daughters who live in Washington, one in Kansas and one in Eau Claire and two at Troubled Waters. His wife was buried some 14 years before him. --Transcribed from the Augusta Eagle, Augusta, WI, dated 09 Sep 1899
