Fond du Lac; is a native of County Tipperary, Ireland, born in 1828, and was the son of a farmer in that county; immigrated to America in 1849; settled in Canada West for one year, thence to the state of New York, where he resided about four years; in 1854, he removed to Fond du Lac Co., Wis., where he has since resided; in 1864, he removed to his present home, having bought the farm (120 acres) three years previously. At Rochester, N.Y., in 1854, he was married to Miss Ellen McGuiness, daughter of Sylvester McGuiness, of County Meath, Ireland; they have had eleven children- Edmund, Sylvester, John, Peter (of Kansas), Francis (now pursuing his theological studies for the priesthood, under Archbishop Hennie, of Milwaukee), Patrick, Mary A., Ellen and James (deceased), Margaret and George (deceased).
