Obituary: Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin: Nickolaus Jacob BAST ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, July 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Daily Commonwealth, June 19, 1912 Bast- Nickolas Jacob Bast, aged 81 years, died Tuesday morning, June 11, at his home near Round Lake, two miles west of Dundee. Mr. Bast was a resident of that neighborhood for 38 years. He was born May 19, 1831, at Insburg, Germany. In 1851 he was married to Mary Eva Kuhn, who died in 1861. A year later the deceased was married to Wilhelmina Krummenaur, of Veiler, Germany. Two children were born of the first marriage and six of the second union. Mr. Bast came to American and settled in Fond du Lac in 1867. In 1874 he moved to Round Lake, where he has since made his home. Mr. and Mrs. Bast celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on March 11, last. Surviving the deceased leaves a widow, two sons, Nickolas Bast, of Versailles, Ill.; John Bast, of Campbellsport; and one daughter, Miss Anna C. Bast, residing at the family home. The funeral was held Thursday from the Reformed church at Campbellsport. Rev. Mr. Lanseidel officiating. The bearers were Nickolas and John Bast, Fred Bast, Richard Hodge, James Hodge and Fred Mielke. Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Nickolas Bast, Versailles, Ill. ; Fred Bast, Muscatine, Iowa, Mrs. and Mrs. Giesler, Walter Giesler, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Gillsdorf, Mrs. Philipine Soll, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Soll and son, Mr. and Mrs. John Schumacher, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Scherer, Mrs. Rose Beyers and son, of Fond du Lac; Charles Krummenaur and Mr. and Mrs. Geo Okruege, Oshkosh; Peter Roos, Eldorado; Mrs. Minnie Scheller, Black Wolf; Carl Hoffman, St. Cloud; Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Engleman Sr., Beechwood; Dr. and Mrs. William H. Lassetter, Chicago, Ill., and Albert Kroening, Milwaukee.
