Hersey, Aged 90, Answers Summons Spent 68 Years in Lamartine Funeral Services are to be Held Wednesday From Residence of Norris S. Hersey James A. Hersey, aged 90 years and one of the oldest pioneers of the county died at 8:45 o'clock this morning at the home of his son, H.M. Hersey, 28 East Eleventh street. Mr. Hersey has been visiting at the home of his son for the past four weeks. Mrs. Hersey died April 9 at the age of 84 years. James A. Hersey was born in Ira Corners, N.Y., February 6, 1822 and came to Wisconsin in 1844 settling in Fond du Lac. He became closely associated with Dr. Darling and engaged in the real estate business. His home was then located on Linden street almost directly opposite the county jail. Mr. Hersey removed to the town of Lamartine where he bought a farm, on which the remaining active years of his life were spent. In all he resided 68 years in Lamartine. Of late years Mr. Hersey and his wife resided with their son, Norris Hersey, who is also a resident of Lamartine. Mr. Hersey is survived by three sons, H.M. Hersey, of this city; Norris S. Hersey, of Lamartine; Myron H. Hersey of Coquille City, Ore., and one daughter, Mrs. Jennie Steele of Walla Walla, Wash. The remains will be removed to the home of N.S. Hersey Tuesday morning and the funeral will be held at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning from the residence, Rev. Walter A. Hall officiating. Interment will be in Hersey cemetery.
