Obituary: Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin: Augusta LOECHELT ************************************************************************ Submitted by Jean Schwon, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ This obituary was found in the Brandon Times, published in Brandon, Wisconsin. Issue - Thursday, February 26, 1920 on Page 4 / Column 5. Mrs. Augusta Lachelt, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Riemer, was born March 4, 1874, and passed away last Friday, Feb. 20, 1920 at her home near Fairwater. She had been a sufferer for years from heart trouble but her last illness was not of long duration. She was married at Fairwater, Nov. 18, 1894, to Otto Lachelt. Nine children were born to them, of eight whom three daughters and five sons are left to mourn the loss of a loving and devoted mother. Mr. Lachelt preceded her in death June 3, 1909, and a daughter, Haddie, passed away Nov. 13, 1919. She is also survived by three sisters and four brothers. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday by her pastor, Rev. Preu of the Fairwater Lutheran church. Interment was in the Fairwater cemetery. Postnote: Augusta's husband, Otto, is a brother to my great-grandmother, Martha Loechelt. The surname is most often recorded and known to be spelled as "Loechelt" not Lachelt. Early church records show it recorded as Lo(umlaut)chelt which probably explains the variation in spelling.
