Nov. 22, 1954, p. 28 Funeral Rites are scheduled for Mrs. Nelson, 69. Native of city expires in Appleton; Service to be held in St. Joseph’s. Mrs. Gertrude Nelson, 69, widow of John Nelson, a resident of Fond du Lac until a few years ago, when she took up residence with her daughter, Mrs. Robert Vandervort, at Appleton, died at midnight Saturday at St. Elizabeth’s hospital at Appleton. Funeral services will be held at the Geo. M. Dugan Funeral home Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s church in this city. Burial will be in Calvary cemtery. Mrs. Nelson was born here on Jan. 31, 1885, and was married on Sept. 14, 1906, in St. Joseph’s church. Mrs. Nelson was a member of the church, the Altar society, Fond du Lac Council of Catholic Women, and of the Third Order of St. Francis. Surviving, besides Mrs. Vandervort , are two sons, Leo, Racine, and Alvin, Kenosha; six grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Clara Sanders, city. Mr. Nelson died in 1941. Dugan Funeral home and at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. H.G. Riordan officiating. Burial was in Calvary cemetery where the Rev. Donald Elverson conducted committal rites. Pallbearers were Howard Nelson, Earl Boehrig, Paul Letourneau, Nick Cruciani, Herbert Beyer, and Francis Hein. Members of the Altar society and Third Order of St. Francis attended the services.
