Obituary: Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin: Louise NEST ************************************************************************ Submitted by Jean Schwon, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ This obituary was found in the Brandon Times, published in Brandon, Wisconsin. Issue - Thursday, May 18, 1961 on Page 1 / Column 3. Funeral services were held Sunday in the Fair Water (sic) Zion Ev. Lutheran church for Mrs. Louise Nest, 87, who died May 10 after a three month illness. Rev. Kenneth Tansor officiated. Mrs. Herbert Cluppert and Miss Shirley Bade sang. Mrs. Lieske was at the organ. Bearers were Lloyd, Clarence, Arnold, John, and Ray Schmuhl. Interment was in the Fair Water cemetery. She was born Feb. 27, 1874, the daughter of John and Minnie Schmuhl at Green Lake. On April 19, 1896, she married August Nest who preceded her in death. For the last 16 months, she has been living with a nephew, Herbert Schmuhl. She lived in the area most of her life. Surviving are a son, Edward, Fair Water, and nieces and nephews. Five brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. Postnote: I am the great-granddaughter of Louise's brother, Edward. I cannot verify the mention in her obituary that five brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. I have researched and verified seven siblings (five sons and three daughters born to John and Minnie nee Heidel). Four brothers and two sisters preceded her in death, one brother, Edward survived her. Her mother's 1900 census record states she was the mother of 12 children, six now living. (Louise and her five brothers were living in 1900, the two sisters had died prior to 1900). Her mother's 1910 census record states she was the mother of six children, six now living. (She was the mother of at least eight children). I also have not researched children of Louise, therefore I do not know if the mention of a son, Edward is accurate.
