Deceased was born in Alsace Loraine on November 25th, 1828, and came to this county when two years of age. He lived at Canton, Ohio, until 1854 when he moved to St. Kilian where he has since made his home. In September of the same year he was married to Magdalen Zengler, who preceded him in death twenty-five years ago. Fifteen children were born to this union, eight of whom are living; they are: Alois Richart of Kiel, Elizabeth, (Mrs. Steinmetz); Theresa (Mrs. Philips) of Milwaukee; Louis of Marathon City; John and Albert of New Holstein; Christina (Mrs. Woelfel) and Anton residing on the homestead; also fifty grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. The funeral was held last Monday forenoon at 10 o'clock, from St. Kilian Catholic church, Rev. Father Reichel officiating and interment taking place in the adjoining cemetery. The pallbearers were six grandchildren of the deceased: Anton Richart, John Richart, Leo Richart, John Hurth, Arnold Woelfel and John Steinmetz. Relatives from afar who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Alois Richart and son John of Kiel; Mr. and Mrs. John Richart and sons Leo and Norbert, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Richart and son Fred of New Holstein; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Richart and Alex Gertchen of Marathon; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Woelful and son Arnold of Heyton; Mrs. Elizabeth Steinmetz and daughters Alexia and Marie, Mrs. Theresa Philips and son Anton of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Richart, August Richart of St. Anna; Mrs. Ed. Ehlenbeck and son Clarence of Kiel; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hilmes and daughter Frances and son Primmus of St. Michaels; George Straub and daughters Marcella and Hyacinth and Mrs. Julia Wyse, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gremminger and son Benno, Mrs. Jacob Braun all of Campbellsport; Mr. and Mrs. Nic Uelman of St. Michaels.
