Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Fair Water (sic) Lutheran church for Mrs. William Schmuhl, 91, who died Friday in the Jefferson county hospital after a lengthy illness. Rev. Robert Weinbender officiated. Burial was in the Fair Water cemetery. Miss Shirley Bade and Mrs. Herbert Cluppert sang, with Mrs. Lydia Lieske at the organ. Bearers were Donald and Earl Schmuhl, Robert Kirst, Arnold Haase, Ed Lamonska, and Gordon Berg. Formerly Amelia Klettke, she was born on a Green Lake county farm April 13, 1973 (sic), a daughter of Christoff and Henrietta Glaser Klettke. She lived in and around Fair Water all of her life. Survivors include two sons, Harold of Watertown, and Elmer of San Bernardino, Calif., one daughter, Mrs. John Kantorowicz, Brandon; seven grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in November 1951. She was also preceded in death by one sister and three brothers. Correction postnote: Her birth year was printed in the newspaper as 1973. She is a sister-in-law to my great-grandfather, Edward and my research to date indicates her birth year as 1873.
