Issue - Thursday, May 15, 1919. Page 4 / Column 5. Mrs. Minnie Schmuhl died at the home of her son Frank Schmuhl in Fairwater, May 3, after a short illness, aged 80 years. Funeral services were held on the Monday following. Mrs. Schmuhl is survived by five sons and one daughter. She was a sister of the late Fred Heidel of Brandon. Those attending the funeral from here were H. D. Pleuss and family, and Mrs. Fred Heidel. Postnote: This is my gr-gr-grandmother. The obituary did not mention some of the following information: She was baptized Jacobine Heidel in 1838 in Germany. A researcher in Germany located her church marriage record which states: "Johann Christian Martin Schmuhl, age 28, worker in Unnode, married on 28 Mar. 1863 in Kartlow - virgin Jacobine Leonore Marie (called Wilhelmine) Heydel, age 24 1/2, daughter of the foreman from Wilhelminenthal - Carl Christoph Heydel (#2/1863) remark: The young couple want to go after Easter with his parents to America." In Fairwater she and her husband were known as: John and Minnie Schmuhl. The children surviving her are sons: Frank, William, John, Edward and Henry. Her daughter is: Louise (Schmuhl) Nest.
