Issue - Wednesday, April 24, 1974. A resident of the Fair Water (sic) area most of his life, Oscar J. Schmuhl, 83, Fair Water died at 3:20 a.m. April 22, at Waupun Memorial Hospital after an illness of two weeks. He was born in Green Lake County, Dec. 28, 1890, son of Frank and Alvina Werth Schmuhl. He attended Oshkosh Business College and was married to Helen Bierman, June 16, 1915. He was a farmer until retirement. Surviving are three sons, Arthur, Rt. 1, Markesan, Franklin, and Harlan, both of rural Brandon; two sisters, Mrs. John Laper, Markesan, and Mrs. Walter Winkler, Waupun; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter. Mr. Schmuhl was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Fair Water and its Brotherhood; past member of the Town Board of Metomen and past member of Fair Water Village Board. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Albert Grender officiating. Interment was in the Fair Water Cemetery.
