Deceased was born at Three Rivers, Canada, July 24, 1853, of French parentage. His parents died when he was very young leaving him to care for himself at an early age. Mr. Fraser was married at DePere in 1879 to Mary Wescott, who still survives him, together with his sister, Mrs. Eleanor (Elzear) LaDuke of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin and his brother Fred, of Rapid River, Delta County, Michigan. In 1884 he came to this county after spending a number of years on the Great Lakes, and settled down on a farm near this place, where he lived until about four years ago when he entered the hotel business and took charge of the Milwaukee House, which he had charge of until his death. He has held many offices, both town and school, being Town Treasurer at the time of his death, which office he was elected for the third consecutive time this spring, and having held that office several times before. The funeral which was held from St. Mary's Church Thursday morning was one of the largest ever held in this place, the large number who followed him to his last resting place in the Catholic cemetery is evidence of the high position he held in the hearts of those who knew him so many years. Friends and relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. E LaDuke, Chippewa Falls, Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Whalen, Fon Du Lac, Mr. and Mrs. James Clancy, Rhinelander, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. VanZile, C.G. Osborne, G.E. Bailey, E. Wyman and P. Shay of Crandon and Mr. and Mrs. T.W. O'Brien of Hiles.
