Taft, dtaft @ cowtown.net History of Grant County Wisconsin Western Historical Publishing, Chicago, July 1881 Town of Castle Rock, Biographical Sketches, Page 1044 JOHN JOHNSON, Jr., Postmaster, merchant and blacksmith, Castle Rock, is one of the leading citizens of this place; he was born in 1839, in Norway, son of John and Anna Johnson; he came to the United States in 1853, locating in Iowa, Co., Wis., near Dodgeville, for two years; thence going to Montfort for two years; then to Castle Rock, where he has since lived. Has kept the post office for a number of years. He was married Oct. 3, 1868, to Huldah E. Richards, a daughter of Solomon and Catherine Richards, and has four children - Herbert J., Willie K., Roy B., Mabel. He was Chairman of Town Board for two years, and School Clerk for nine years, owns 382 acres of land; in politics, is a Republican.
