NYE, photographic artist, Platteville; is a native of Maine, born in Fairfield, Somerset Co., in 1842; he enlisted, Aug. 5,1861, in the 7th Me. V. I., Co. E, and served as a private two years in that regiment, when he was given a Second Lieutenant's commission in Co. E, 9th U. S. Vols., and served one year in that capacity; he was in ten engagements while in the 7th Me. Regiment, and was at the siege of Port Hudson with the 9th. After he left the army he returned to Maine, and from there came to Platteville, in November, 1865, where he has been engaged in his present business ever since. He married Miss Kate Tyler, of Platteville, in 1867, and has two children - George N. and Mabel.
