Lancaster; was born at Benton, La Fayette Co., Wis., Nov. 27, 1846; went to Kansas in 1872; remained there until 1874, engaged in farming; then returned to Iowa, and rented land; then returned to Wisconsin; bought and owns 80 acres of land (a part of the old homestead of his father). He enlisted, in the year 1862, in Co. A, 33d W. V. I.; mustered out in August, 1865, at Vicksburg, Miss. His wife, Linda Bronell, who was born in La Fayette Co., July 23, 1853; a daughter of Clinton and Cynthia Bronell; natives of New York. They married in 1872; they have three children - Everett D., born in Kansas April 24, 1874; Wilber A., born in Iowa Sept. 24, 1876; Melvin J., born in Wisconsin Sept. 21, 1878.
