Was married July 25, 1835; he came to the United States in 1849, and settled in Lancaster, where he followed butchering and peddling his meats; was also engaged in mining during the first four years. They have five children living - Joseph, Sophia (now Mrs. John Schriener), Henrietta (widow of John Woolstenholme), Amelia (now Mrs. John G. Oswald), and Adolph. Mr. Nathan is a member of I. O. O. F.
