W. S. NORTHUP, banker and member of the firm of Northrup & Co., Platteville; was 
born in Rutland Co., Vt., in 1850; came to Platteville in 1874, and, from that 
time until 1878, was in the bank of S. Hodges & Co., he was then in business for 
himself in Belmont about one and a half years, and formed the present 
partnership in April, 1880.  He was married, Oct. 10, 1878, to Mary G., daughter 
of Dr. G. W. Eastman, of Platteville.  Mr. Northrup is the present City 
Treasurer.
