A man named John Brent, recently from Montana, got into a difficulty with one of the hostlers belonging to the Circus. Afterwards he went to a hotel where several members of the Circus were stopping, called them to the door, and then deliberately shot two of them down in their tracks. One of them died immediately, and the other, we understand, has since died. The murderer effected his escape, but as a large reward is offered for him, he will probably be captured. The Sheriff of Grant county, Wisconsin, passed through Maquoketa last Sunday, looking for him.
