Came to this country with her parents at the age of 20 years making her home with one of her sisters. In the year 1872 she became united in marriage to Chas. Belz who for many years owned a blacksmith shop in Lancaster and up the time of his death. Five children, blessed this union, two of whom died in infancy, the remaining ones are Laura [Mrs. C. Brinkman] of Hurricane, Otto and Clara, [Mrs. J. Dechow] of Latcher, S. Dak., two brothers and one sisters also survive, Mr. Chas. Dahlenburg of Wagner S. Dak. and Mr. Fred Dahlenburg of Tyndal S. Dak. And Mrs. Fred Jack of Beetown, Wis., and three grandchildren. Services were held at Lancaster on Friday Dec. 29th by Rev. Schmidt at the German Evangelical church of which the deceased was a member for many years. Rev. Morgans also spoke in the English language. Left in widowhood in the year of 1889 with 3 children she took up her burden as only a brave mother can and not sacrifice was too great for the welfare of her family, a faithful mother and a kind neighbor living in her home up to three years ago she went to live with her daughters. One year she spent in Dakota with her daughter the remaining time with her other daughter at which place she was taken ill and died. She began ailing about a year ago but nothing that was thought serious up until in the fall she became somewhat worse and about the first of October became bed fast. Along in November she became serious and her daughter from Dakota was sent for and faithfully stayed at her bedside until the death angel came on Dec. 26 at 4 a.m. and took her where there in no more suffering and sorrow. She was a patient sufferer and never complaining. She was laid to rest at the Hillside cemetery.
