CATHERINE WHITZIG Mrs. Catherine Bunzel Whitzig was born in Setee, Germany, Oct. 28, 1843, and departed from this life Jan. 15, 1934, at the age of 90 years. She came over to America when a child of ten years old with her parents. She was united in marriage to Frank Whitzig in 1865. There was born to this union nine children, four of whom with her husband have preceded her in death, namely: Andrew, Peter, Annie and John. Those who mourn her departure are Frank of Mt. Hope, Elizabeth, Mrs. Fred Steinforth, Winnebago, Minn.; Mary, Mrs. Frank Dempsey of Fennimore; George of Mt. Hope; Herman, whose whereabouts are unknown. There are eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She resided for a time at Annaton and Montfort. In 1884 they moved to a farm near Werley, where the remainder of her life was spent until two years ago, she was removed to the Dempsey home where she was tenderly cared for until her death. She was stricken with a stroke four years ago of which two and a half years she was bedfast. Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Catholic church Wednesday morning at 9:30. She was laid to rest in Prairie Cemetery, beside her husband and loved ones gone before.
