Whitzig, son of Frank and Catherine Whitzig, was born March 23, 1869, at Liberty. He passed away at a Boscobel hospital Jan. 22, 1952, after a long illness at the age of 82 years, 10 months. He was united in marriage to Mabel Simmons Dec. 25, 1901. To this union two children were born--a son William, and a daughter Florence. (Mrs. Irvin Richter). His wife and son William preceded him in death. Mrs. Whitzig passed away 10 years ago and Wm. just a year later. He leaves to mourn his daughter Florence (Mrs. Irvin Richter), where he had made his home since his wife's death, also two sisters, Mrs. Mary Dempsey, Fennimore; Mrs. Elizabeth Stienforth, Winnebago, Minn., and a brother George also of Fennimore, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Although Mr. Whitzig had lived to a ripe old age, he was always ready and willing to help others before ill health prevailed. He will be sadly missed by every one who knew and loved him. He was grandpa to every one. Funeral services were held Jan. 24, 1952 at 1:30 p.m. in the Thoni & Godager funeral home. Rev. Landdeck officiating, burial at the Bethel cemetery.
