He had been in failing health during the past several weeks and had been confined to his home during that time. He received treatment at the clinic in Madison for some time and seemed to improve for awhile. He was born in Hickory Grove township and for a number of years farmed southwest of the city, on the place where August Kruel resides. After disposing of the farm, he moved to the city, and has resided here for many years. He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Clara (Mrs. Clement Conley) of Mt. Hope, two sisters: Mrs. Dominic Dorer and Mrs. Anna Smith, both of this city, two brothers, William of Fennimore and Charles of Boscobel, and seven grandchildren. Ferd was well and favorable known here, a man of high honor and integrity and merited the high esteem of a large circle of friends.. Funeral services were held Saturday at St, Mary's church at 9 a.m. and burial took place in St. Lawrence O'Toole church near Mt. Hope.
