W. Sumner was born in Tennyson, Grant Co. Wis., March 21 1846; died at his home on Sand Prairie, Richland Co Wis. Jan.27 1912, being at the time of his death 65 years 10 months and 6 days. He was married to Ruth White, May 2 1869; to this union was born five children, two boys and three girls; Benj. R. Sumner, of Patch Grove; Olive F. Bradley of Geddes S. Dak.; Anna A. Bradley, Decker B. Sumner and Alice V. Engroff, of Lancaster, all of whom were present at his bedside except one daughter in S. Dak. who was not present on account of illness. With the sorrowing family, he leaves to mourn his loss one brother, Burton Sumner, of Lancaster and three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Crandal of Madison; Betsey E. Walker of Beetown and Olive Ishmeal of Cassville. The brother and one sister, Mrs. Crandal were present at the funeral. Words of comfort were spoken by Elder Shreeve at the Sand Prairie church and laid to rest in cemetery near by to await the resurrection morn.
