He had been sick for several weeks, with lung fever, but for a few days previous to his death there had been a marked improvement, and he was expecting to be able to get up the next day. About 1 o'clock Saturday morning, however, he was taken with a congestive chill, which accomplished its fatal work in a short time. Henry Henkel was, at the time of his death, 60 years, three months and five days old. He was a native of Hessia-Darmstadt, Germany, and came to this country in 1860, locating on a farm in the town of Liberty. He afterwards lived in Ellenboro for a number of years, and last winter he removed to Cassville, where he conducted a boarding house and restaurant. He was married in 1848 to Miss Amelia Hoff, and leaves a family of eight children---three daughters and five sons. Mrs. John Jeide and Louis Henkel, of Lancaster, are among the children. Mrs. Henkel also survives her husband. * * * * * Excerpted from the Grant County Herald, Lancaster, WI - Thursday, March 9, 1910: MRS.
