Persons or organizations desiring to use this material, must obtain the written consent of the contributor, or the legal representative of the submitter, and contact the listed USGenWeb archivist with proof of this consent. ***************************************************************************** Submitted by Judy – hillwl @ mwt.net Grant County Herald Aug 29, 1917 Potosi WI We are again called upon to chronicle the death of another highly respected old resident of Potosi, Mrs. John Doser, for more than 60 years a resident of the town of Potosi, died at her home in the village, Thursday afternoon, Jan 13 after an illness of only five days, death resulting from pneumonia, complicated with heart failure; Friday morning, Jan 7th the writer met Mrs. Doser on the walk as she was going to the Catholic church to attend mass. She was cheerful and active as she always was and greeted us with a pleasant “good morning”. The day following she took sick, and just one week later she was consigned to the grave. She is survived by her husband and six sons and three daughters. The are; John, of Seattle, Wash; Frank, Henry and Cornelius of Potosi; Theodore of State Center, Iowa, and William of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Mrs. Rosa Millin of Bagley, Wis.; and Mrs. Vera Kirgues, and Miss Mary, of Potosi. Her eldest daughter, Mrs. Matilda Schumacher, died July 29 1907 leaving a little daughter, Hilda, to the tender care of her grandmother, with whom she always made her home, and with her uncles and aunts, morn the death of the beloved parent. Mrs. Doser is also survived by three sisters; Mrs. Charles Patzner and Mrs. Lorenz Burkett of Potosi and Sister Mary Resurrection of Notre Dame, Ind. Besides numerous grandchildren and other relatives. Theresa Barnd was born at Kleindilo, Prussia, Jan 2, 1843 and died at Potosi, Wis., Jan 13, 1916 age 73 years and ten days. When very young she came to this country with her mother and five sisters and one brother. Her father and one brother died on the ocean while enroute to this country. She was marred to Mr. John Doser in Potosi May 10, 1860 with whom she lived contented and happily for almost fifty six years. They followed the pursuits of farming prior to some few years ago, when they retired and moved to the village of Potosi. Mr. Doser has been an invalid for a number of years. Her only brother August Barnd, who came to this country with her died at Manchester, Iowa about thirteen years ago and one sister Mrs. August Ulbrich, died in Potosi a number of years ago. Her mother is buried in Galena. Mrs. Doser was a strong adherent of the Catholic faith and died with all the rights of the church. The funeral took place Saturday forenoon from the residence to St. Thomas church where she had worshipped the greater portion of her life. It was very largely attended. Requiem high mass was read by Rev. Father Prucha and at the conclusion thereof the remains were borne to the cemetery on the hill and the last that was mortal of the dear wife and grandmother was consigned to the silent tomb. Those from abroad who attended the funeral were; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barnd, Mr. and Mrs. August Barnd, Mrs. John Barnd and Mrs. Joseph Harps of Manchester, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. William Doser of Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Doser of State Center, Iowa. Mr. John Doser and Children wish to thank all friends for their kind assistance rendered during the sickness and at the death of the loved wife and mother.
