Obituary: Green County, Wisconsin: Mary EDMONDS ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Mary Elizabeth Edmonds was the only daughter of John and Margaret Swancut, she was born in the English settlement in the town of Albany, November 9, 1855 and remained at home with her mother until she was married. Her father died in 1860. She married Theo. Edmonds December 20, 1874, and lived in the settlement until 1892, when they removed to Esterville, Emmet Co., Iowa and there she died January 10, 1894, after a short illness. Her death was very sudden and unexpected as she was not considered dangerously ill. The deceased leaves a husband and eight children, the youngest being only seven weeks old beside a mother and many to mourn their loss. The remains were brought to Albany and interred in the English settlement cemetery last Satruday, the Rev. J. Scholfield, of Evansville, conducted the funeral services, which were very largely attended, over fourty-four teams being in the processing. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all. The husband and family are deeply grateful to all who attested their friendship and esteem by thought and deed in the dark hour of their loss.
