Obituary: Green County, Wisconsin: Emma PATTERSON ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Mrs. Emma Patterson passed away at her home in this city early Wednesday morning, April 8, 1903, aged 46 years. Mrs. Patterson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Winter was born in Green County, this state, April 1, 1857. She was married May 30, 1876 to Hiram Patterson, and always resided near the old homestead, seven miles west of this city until she moved to this city two years ago. She has been a most patient sufferer during her prolonged illness of about 15 years, most of the time of which she was an invalid. Her parents celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on last Saturday, April 4, and for months past Mrs. Patterson had been planning on the happy reunion that would take place on that day. But alas! her strength failed, and only a few days before the commemorable event was to take place, she was taken much worse and her friends knew the end was very near. However, the brothers from away, arrived, and the reunion was held, but in a most quiet manner. The deceased was a loving daughter, devoted wife and mother, a kind neighbor, willing to lend a helping hand when assistance was needed, and her kind words and advice will be missed by a host of friends. She was a consistent member of the Methodist church in this city. Besides her husband and daughter, Nellie, she leaves an aged father and mother and five brothers, all of whom were here when the end came. The brothers are: DeWitt of Brainerd, Minn., James of Sioux Falls, S. D., William who resides on a farm east of here and Theodore and Edwin of this city. The funeral services were held at the home April 10th, at 10 o'clock, Rev. James Churm officiating. Interment in the Stone school house cemetery, west of here.
