Rutty was born April 15, 1847, in Johnstown, Wisconsin. In early childhood she moved with her parents to Dayton, Wisconsin, where she received her education and spent her young womanhood. On January 23, 1870, she was married to James R. Ford, who passed away October 10, 1888. To this union were born five children, four of whom are living, one having died in infancy. All of her life was spent in Green county with the exception of eight years, when she lived in Wonewoc, Wisconsin. She was married to Mr. F. W. Pierce, of Monroe, in 1897, who preceded her to the Great Beyond in 1905. Mrs. Pierce was an earnest Christian and died firm in the belief that she had practiced all her life. She was always a great help and comfort to those who were sick and discouraged. She came to Evansville about five months ago on account of ill health and since then has made her home here with her daughter, Mrs. Harry Curless. She has ben ill and has suffered a great deal during that time, having been confined to her bed most of the time. She passed peacefully away at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 16. She leaves to mourn her going four children: Lewis, Ford, of Troy, South Dakota; Clyde Ford, of Madison, Wisconsin; Mrs. Chas. Parkin and Mrs. Harry Curless of this city. She also leaves two brothers and one sister, J. L. Rutty of Glenwood City, Wisconsin, Wallace Rutty and Mrs. Ellen Dalrymple, of Belleville, Wisconsin. There are also twelve grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was a loving mother and kind friend and helper. She had passed the three score and ten mark, but she was still young in spirit, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
