The assembly consists of 100 members, who are chosen biennially by districts, and who receive a compensation of $500 for their term of office. The speaker is chosen by the members, and receives $500 for his services. The assembly contains 91 republicans, 8 democrats and 1 fusion. MILWAUKEE COUNTY. Eleventh District. The Eleventh ward of the city of Milwaukee. Population in 1895—18,643. JULIUS FIEGE (Rep.), of Milwaukee, Milwaukee county, was born July 10, 1861, in the city of Milwaukee, and was educated in the public and parochial schools of Milwaukee, where he has always resided; is a merchant by occupation. He was elected to the assembly in 1896, receiving 1,898 votes, against 1,638 for August Schmidt, the fusion candidate, and 51 for W. Dobrowscky, socialist.
