They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term. The Speaker Is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as Speaker. The Assembly of 1901 contains 82 Republicans and 18 Democrats. RICHLAND COUNTY. Population, 1900-19,483. (Unchanged by apportionment of 1901.) JOHN H. BABB (Rep.) is a farmer residing in the town of Sylvan (Sabin P. O.), Richland county. He was born in that town Aug. 10, 1860, and obtained his education in the common schools. He was elected chairman of the town board in the spring of 1894, and at the November election following was elected treasurer of Richland county, to which office he was re-elected in 1896. Nov. 6, 1900, he 'was elected member of the assembly, receiving 2,558 votes, against 1,502 cast for George Jameson (Dem.), and 259 for John Maley (Pro.).
