They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term. The Speaker Is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as Speaker. The Assembly of 1901 contains 82 Republicans and 18 Democrats. ROCK- Second District. The towns of Bradford, Center, Fulton, Harmony, Johnstown, Lima, Magnolia, Milton, Porter and Union, and the city of Evansville, and the city of Edgerton. Population in 1900 - 16,329. (District changed. See new apportionment, following biographies.) ALMERON EAGER (Rep.), of Evansville, is a retired farmer and merchant. He was born in Sangerfield, Oneida county, N. Y., March 14, 1838, and came to Wisconsin in November, 1854. He has been town treasurer eight years, trustee for the village of Evansville one year, president of the village three years, and super-visor of the First ward of the city of Evansville five years. He was elected to the assembly in 1900 by 2,670 votes, against 911 for Daniel Rodgers (Dem.), and 170 for John Stockman (Pro.).
