They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term. The Speaker Is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as Speaker. The Assembly of 1901 contains 82 Republicans and 18 Democrats. BURNETT AND POLK COUNTIES. Population, 1900 -25,279. (This district unchanged by apportionment of 1901.) OLE ERICKSON (Rep.), of Grantsburg, Burnett county, a native of Sweden, born Nov. 25, 1864, came to Wisconsin June 12, 1891, is a farmer, merchant and has been four years county clerk of Burnett county. Prior to coming to Wisconsin he lived in Isanti county, Minn., where he settled on his arrival in America in 1878. In June, 1891, he moved to Grantsburg, and in company with A. E.. Nelson opened a general store, in the firm name of Nelson & Erickson. In 1896 he sold his mercantile interests to his partner and was elected county clerk, to which office he was elected again in 1898, and in 1900 was elected to the assembly by 3,990 votes, against 868 for John F. Cavanaugh (Dem.).
