They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term. The Speaker Is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as Speaker. The Assembly of 1901 contains 82 Republicans and 18 Democrats. MILWAUKEE-Fourteenth District. The 14th ward of the city of Milwaukee. Population in 1900 - 20,651. (Unchanged by apportionment of 1901.) AUGUST M. GAWIN (Dem.), of Milwaukee, was born Aug. 27, 1869, in Posen, Germany, and was educated in the Milwaukee public and parochial schools; came with his parents to Milwaukee April 20, 1872, and has resided there since; is ,in artist by profession and Is engaged in the art glass business. He was elected to the assembly in 1896 and 1898, and for the third time in 1900, receiving 2,012 votes, against 872 for C. Matuszewshi (Rep.), and 129 for J. Reidenbach (Soc. Dem.).
