They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term. The Speaker Is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as Speaker. The Assembly of 1901 contains 82 Republicans and 18 Democrats. LA CROSSE -Second District. The towns of Bangor including village of Bangor), Barre, Burns, Farmington, Greenfield, Hamilton (Including West Salem village), Holland, Onalaska, Shelby and Washington, and the city of Onalaska, and the 3d, 8th, 17th and 18th wards of the city of La Crosse. Population In 1900-21,157. (Unchanged by apportionment of 1901.) ANDREW C. HANSEN (Rep.), of Mindoro, La Crosse county, was born in Namdelen, Norway, March 17, 1845, and came to Wisconsin In 1866. He was educated In the common schools of Norway and Is engaged In the mercantile business. He has been chairman of town board five years and a trustee of La Crosse county asylum thirteen years. He was elected to the assembly In 1900 by 2,482 votes, against 1,903 for D. D. Samuels (Dem.).
