They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term. The Speaker Is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as Speaker. The Assembly of 1901 contains 82 Republicans and 18 Democrats. GREEN LAKE COUNTY. Population, 1900-15,797. (Unchanged by apportionment of 1901.) WILLIAM J. MIDDLETON (Rep.), of Berlin, was born Aug. 11, 1852, In the city of Berlin, Green Lake county. Tie received his education In the common and high schools of the city of Berlin, and Is by occupation a farmer. He was elected chairman of the Board of super-visors of big town In 1883, and has been chosen to that position each year since. He has also been one of the directors of the Berlin National bank since its organization. He was elected to the assembly in 1898, and was re- elected In 1900, receiving 1,868 votes, against 1,615 for Frank W. Teske (Dem.), 148 for George W. Merton (Ind.), and 2 for Lorenzo Patterson (Pro.).
