They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term. The Speaker Is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as Speaker. The Assembly of 1901 contains 82 Republicans and 18 Democrats. MILWAUKEE-Eighth District. The 8th ward of the city of Milwaukee. Population, 1900-19,332. (Now wards 8 and 0, same territory.) REINHOLD F. THIESSENHUSEN (Rep.), of Milwaukee, was born in Milwaukee Nov. 17, 1864, and was educated in the public schools of that city, which has always been his home. His business is that of a carpenter and contractor. He was elected to the assembly in 1898, and in 1900 was re-elected by 2,411 votes, against 1,576 for G. Schoener (Dem.), and 213 for Fred H. Laist (Soc.-Dem.).
