ASSEMBLYMEN. IRVINE L. LENROOT, Speaker; C. 0. MARSH, Chief Clerk; A. M. Anderson, Sergeant-at-Arms. The assembly consists of 100 members. They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term. The speaker is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as speaker. The assembly of 1003 contains 75 republicans and 25 democrats. RICHLAND COUNTY. One District. Population, 1900—19,483. J. E. COFFLAND (Dem.), was born in Ohio, 1864; educated in the common schools; moved to Wisconsin in 1887 and engaged in the clothing and furnishing goods business under the firm name of Coffland Bros. Business is still continued under the same firm name. Elected member of the county board, 1895; served on the building committee of the Richland county asylum and is serving the sixth year as trustee of the same institution; was elected mayor of Richland Center in the spring of 1902. Was elected member of assembly in 1902, receiving 1,040 votes against 1,508 for William H. Thompson (Rep.), and 251 for John W. Grimm (Pro.).
