ASSEMBLYMEN. IRVINE L. LENROOT, Speaker; C. 0. MARSH, Chief Clerk; A. M. Anderson, Sergeant-at-Arms. The assembly consists of 100 members. They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term. The speaker is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as speaker. The assembly of 1003 contains 75 republicans and 25 democrats. MILWAUKEE COUNTY. First District. The 1st and 18th wards of the city of Milwaukee. Population, 1900—23,396. JOSEPH MARTIN CROWLEY (Dem.), was born April 29, 1871, in the city of Milwaukee; he received his education in the public schools and St. John's Cathedral school; he was for eight years engaged in the abstract of title business in Milwaukee county and he is now secretary of the Mutual Building & Savings association ana does a general real estate and fire insurance business. He had neither sought or held any public office until elected as member of the assembly in 1902, receiving 2,146 votes against 1,887 for W. J. Desmond (Rep.), and 430 for Swan Nelson (Soc, Dem.).
