ASSEMBLYMEN. 

IRVINE L. LENROOT, Speaker; C. 0. MARSH, Chief Clerk; A. M.
Anderson, Sergeant-at-Arms. 

The assembly consists of 100 members. They are chosen
biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term.
The speaker is chosen by the members and receives an
additional $500 for his services as speaker. The assembly of
1003 contains 75 republicans and 25 democrats.

SAUK COUNTY. Second District. The towns of Bear Creek,
Franklin, Honey Creek, Ironton, La Valle, Reedsburg, Spring
Green, Troy, Washington, Westfield, Winfield and Woodland, the
villages of La Valie and Spring Green and the city of
Reedsburg. Population, 1000—16,101.

EVAN W. EVANS (Dem.), is a native of Wales and came to
Wisconsin in 1840. He obtained a common school and academic
education in Sauk county and is a farmer and dealer in live
stock. He was a member of the Sixth Wisconsin Battery Light
artillery, from Sept., 1861, to Oct., 1864, and participated
in all battles and campaigns in which the battery took part,
among them the siege at Island No. 10, siege and battle of
Corinth, the Holly Springs and Vicksburg campaigns, the
battles at Raymond, Black River, Jackson and Champion Hills,
to the final siege and capture of Vicksburg, and Sherman's
march to Atlanta. He was a member of the assembly in 1885,
1887, and 1901, and re-elected in 1902, receiving 1,186 votes
against 1,139 for Edward C. Gottry (Rep.) and 103 for F. I.
Houghton (Pro.).
