THE WISCONSIN LEGISLATURE. SENATE. The senate is composed of thirty-three members, who hold office for four years and receive $500 each for their services at each regular session. Members of the senate, session of 1903, representing odd-numbered districts, were elected in 1902, Their terms will end Jan. 1, 1907. Those representing even-numbered districts were elected in 1900. Their terms will end Jan. 1, 1905. The lieutenant-governor is president of the senate, but can vote only in case of a tie. A temporary president, to act in the absence of the president, is chosen by the members of the senate. The senate of 1903 contains 3O Republicans and 3 Democrats. Lieutenant-Governor James O. SANFIELD MACDONALD was born at Windsor, Nova Scotia, October 8th, 1864. When fifteen years of age he moved with his parents to Manchester, New Hampshire, where he remained until 1887, when he moved to Escanaba, Michigan. In 1889 he came to Ashland, Wisconsin, where he has lived ever since. He has always been an active republican and has served in several positions of trust in Ashland county. He was elected sergeant-at-arms of senate January 14th, 1903, receiving the unanimous vote of the republican members of that body. Additional Comments: The Blue Book of the State of Wisconsin.
