They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their service during the term. The speaker is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as speaker. The assembly of 1003 contains 75 republicans and 25 democrats. COLUMBIA COUNTY. First District. The towns of Arlington, Caledonia, Dekorra, Fort Winnebago, Lewiston, Lodi, New Port, Pacific and West Point, the villages of Kilbourn City, Lodi and Poynette, and the city of Portage. Population, 1900—15,111 SCOTT F. VERBECK (Rep.) was born in Columbia county, Wisconsin, in 1860; is a physician by profession, graduating from the Bennett medical college, Chicago: was elected member of assembly in 1902. receiving 1,549 votes against 1,267 for J.G.
