They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their services during the term. The speaker is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as speaker. The assembly of 1905 contains 85 republicans, 11 democrats, and 4 social democrats. JUNEAU COUNTY. One district. Population 1900—20,629. P. A. CLEARY (Dem.) ,was born in Andover, Alleghaney Co., N. Y., Dec. 31, 1873, and moved to Wisconsin with his parents in the spring of 1881, locating on a farm in town of Glendale, Monroe county; moved to Elroy, where he has resided ever since; was educated in the public schools of Elroy, graduating from the Elroy High School with the class of 1891; worked as a cashier and bookkeeper for three years and since that time has been In the real estate and insurance business. Was city assessor for Elroy in the years of 1900 ana 1901; was elected mayor in spring of 1902 and was reelected in 1904 without any opposition: was also secretary of Elroy Fan- Association, which office he has held for 4 years.
