JENKINS (Rep.), of Chippewa Falls, was born in Weymouth, England, August 20, 1843; settled in Baraboo, Wis., in 1852; attended the common schools a few terms; served during the war in Company A, Sixth Wisconsin volunteers; clerk of the circuit court of Baraboo, Sauk county; city clerk and city attorney of Chippewa Falls; member of assembly from Chippewa county; also county judge; appointed United States attorney of the Territory of Wyoming by President Grant in 1876; was elected to the 54th, 55th, 56th, 57th and 58th congresses and re-elected to the 59th congress, receiving 31,275 votes, against 8,637 for Geo.
