MEMBERS OF THE FIFTY-EIGHTH CONGRESS. UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT HEADS. VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY. FREDERICK EUGENE TURNEAURE, C. E., Acting Dean of the College of Mechanics and Engineering. Born in Stephenson county, Illinois, in 1866. Received a country school education and attended the Freeport, Ill., high school for a short time. Entered Cornell University in 1885, and graduated from Civil Engineering Course in 1889. From 1889 to 1900 he was engaged in railroad engineering in Virginia and Kentucky. From 1890 to 1892 he was Instructor in Civil Engineering at Washington University, St. Louis, and in 1892 was appointed to the chair of Bridge and Sanitary Engineering of the University of Wisconsin. He was also city engineer of Madison from 1900 to 1902, and has been engaged as consulting engineer on municipal work. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, of the Western Society of Engineers and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has published as joint author, Modern Framed Structures, 1893, and Public Water Supplies, 1901; besides contributions to the proceedings of various societies, and to technical journals.
