Legislature. Assembly, p. 1139

HERMAN L. KERN, Speaker; C. E. SHAFFER, Chief Clerk; W. S. IRVINE,
Sergeant-at-Arms.

The assembly consists of 100 members. They are chosen biennially and
receive $500 for their services during their term. The speaker is
chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services
as speaker. The assembly of 1907 contains 76 republicans, 19
democrats, and 5 social democrats.

Milwaukee County. (p. 1159-1160) Second District. The 2d and 6th wards
of the city of Milwaukee. Populatin, 1900 - 23,580.

OTTO A. HARRASS (Rep.) was born in the city of Milwaukee, July 13th,
1869; was educated in parochial and public schools; he is a mason by
occupation. In 1898 he enlisted in the Spanish-American war, Company
D, 4th Wisconsin Volunteers, and was promoted to the rank of corporal
and served until mustered out February 28th, 1899; elected member of
the assembly in 1906, receiving, 1,707 votes against 1,148 votes for
Chas. Grobowsk (Soc. Dem.) and 970 votes for Jos. R. Cushbert (Dem.).
