SHAFFER, Chief Clerk; W. S. IRVINE, Sergeant-at-Arms. The assembly consists of 100 members. They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their services during their term. The speaker is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as speaker. The assembly of 1907 contains 76 republicans, 19 democrats, and 5 social democrats. Iowa County. (p. 1152) One District. Population, 1900 - 23,114. DAVID J. MORRIS (Rep.) was born in Carenarthanshire, Wales, Dec. 24, 1849. Came with his parents to America in 1851, locating on a farm in the town of Ridgeway, Iowa county, Wis. Was educated in the public schools, with one year at the Wisconsin State University. Is a farmer by occupation. Has always been a republican. He was elected to the assembly in 1906, receiving 2,376 votes against 1,692 for Arthur G. Roethe (Dem.) and 130 votes for Fred L. Cork (Pro.).
